Sandra is an experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a demonstrated history of working in health care. Skilled in Nursing, Pediatrics, Health Policy, Clinical Research, Primary and Specialty Care, Nurse Practitioners, and leadership she is a strong healthcare services professional with a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing. Sandy has worked in the field of allergy and asthma for nearly 21 years. In 2017, she completed a Quality Improvement asthma project with Edinburg Consolidated School District, community pediatricians and school nurses in south Texas. We are grateful to Sandy for serving on the AAE Board of Directors and on AAE's Executive Committee as the Vice President.
OBJECTIVES:
- Identify the importance of the school nurse in asthma management.
- Discuss the impact of environmental exposures for high-risk children with asthma.
- Develop an interventional school-based program with evidence-based modules and tools
- Utilize a community-based comprehensive approach to improve asthma-related health outcomes.

Nursing : This program has been planned and implemented in accordance with the requirements of the California Board of Registered Nursing. The Association of Asthma Educators is an approved provider (#13605) of continuing education in nursing.
